Japanese video-game terms

Playing for over a year on a Japanese server on a popular MMO, I picked up some great phrases.  I’m including a small list of them here for other people who may be interested in video-game immersion.  I think it’s a form of visual language shadowing that exposes you to repeat phrases enough times to begin picking out the words from memory over time. Where possible I will use the kanji followed by hiragana or katakana in parenthesis. If no kanji exists, I will just use hiragana or katakana as it was revealed to me.

シャウト
often if shouting in game they will preface with an apologetic shout for etiquette using this word

失礼します
( しつれいしました )
excuse me

募集
( ぼしゅう )
recruiting or taking applications as for a guild

ノシ
an arm-waving kaomoji signifying ‘bye-bye!’ This is text only and not spoken

マップ
map

ソロ
solo

コンテンツ
content(s)

パーティー
party

攻略
( こうりゃく )
a walkthru or specific advice

経験値
( けいけんち )
experience points in an RPG: known to us as ‘exp’

プレー
‘play’ as in play style for some

レイズ
raise as in being resurrected after a KO

ジョブ
job as in your class or job in the game

ギルド
guild or a group of RPG players who work together

Please note: I am learning Japanese so these may not be completely accurate terms. But as I was learning them and making notes, I felt it might be nice to share what I had come across with other enthusiasts. I hope this was interesting to both gamers and friends of Japanese culture.

Please note: There may be errors in this translation as it is just for my own practice.  Also, terms I found of interest include Wafumi – which may be a potential Parisian-Japanese fusion food.  And the term “daily frankness” is the most kind way I could think of translating a phrase that might also mean something more like “Yoshida Uncovered” or revealed to the point of being naked, which then had the connotation of being frank and honest.  These terms also may not be accurate, but I found them an interesting study.
